One
night in the year 2000, I was in my studio experimenting with a
few recording techniques. I positioned three mikes around my Bosendorfer
and began to play it. The sound from the earphones was the clearest
I had ever heard in all my years recording this instrument. The
roundness of each tone and overtones had an almost physical presence
that I imagined touching and gripping as I played. Dances in Blue Liquid is a 45 minute, one take improvisation session
inspired by exceptional sound.
